For a moment. Look.
For a moment. See beyond yourself.
For a moment. Wear the shoes of another.
For a moment. JUST LISTEN.
A moment can change an eternity.
It takes a moment to plant a seed
And a moment for destruction.
People need more ears in the world. Someone they can talk too. Someone who won’t judge. Someone who will stand as a light to a clear path. Everyone needs someone like Jesus.
Truth is, I’m not someone who finds it hard to listen to other people’s problems. I’m not a massive sharer so I’d rather someone else did all the talking anyway. The issue here is caring enough about someone else’s problems to completely forget my own problems. This can be hard especially on those days where you just want someone to ask if you’re okay
Let’s disregard all that for two seconds.
This is our stronghold. Jesus wept.
Now let me explain. Imagine if Jesus, on the day he was meant to defeat death and die on the cross started complaining to peter and Judas how life is sooo tiring and how his father is sending him to do such a painful task. And how they were all so selfish and they should all just die for themselves.
Where would we be?
If Jesus never laid down his life for us, where would be? what hope would we have?
Jesus had human emotions. Like you and me he was moved with emotions. God sent His Son to weep for us, to carry the greatest shame, to suffer pain at the very hand of his creation, to listen, to show a way. The truth is God isn’t calling us to do anything he hasn’t already been through. Just as Jesus took up His cross we are also being called to take up our cross and die to ourselves. Yes we weep, but let’s weep for others.
“When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled.”
The greatest act of love is action.
“He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Do you love me? And he said unto him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.”
Tending to a sheep isn’t just giving them food once in a while, it’s putting all their needs above yours to see them grow. Christ became flesh for our sake, the greatest act of love. Now he’s telling us as an act of love from us, we should feed, care, listen, and tend his sheep’s. Help the broken-hearted and weep for the lost.
God knows your pain, he’s been through them. Once you set your eyes on his desires one thing I’ve come to realize is that in comparison to anything else is yoke is easy and his burden is light. For truly, seek first the kingdom of God and everything will be added onto you. And remember whenever you’re downcast, God didn’t leave us on our own, we have the Holy Spirit the, Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), right by our side. So for a moment and plenty more care for someone today…
I pray that grace will be given for Christ to increase in us. Amen
