Why does God seem so far away?

However, when ambassadors arrived from Babylon to ask about the remarkable events that had taken place in the land, God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart.

2 Chronicles 32:31(NLT)

Sometimes in our Christian walks we all have that season where we feel that God is far away from us. Sometimes we feel that it’s because of sins we’ve committed or because God is angry with us. But most of the time one thing that we fail to acknowledge is the fact that maybe – just maybe God wants to be found.

Not in the sense that God is lost- but in the sense that he wants to be desired and sought after. When it comes to love God has very feminine characteristics. Like with relationships, intimacy that comes easy has no deep roots, there’s no chase, the prize has been gained with no effort therefore there is no true passion or love. God wants to be chased to test what’s in our hearts to see if we truly love him. When you feel far from God; it isn’t time to give up or moan, it’s time to saddle up and seek your lover with all your heart and all your soul.

You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NASB)

Please Don’t Leave Me

Please don’t leave me

My heart and my flesh fails me

The multitude of voices disheartens me

My iniquity plagues me

But Lord I have none but you,

There is no one else I can run to

So in spite of my deprived state, Please don’t leave me

In the stillness the Lord says, ‘I will never leave nor forsake you’

Deuteronomy 31:6

God is Faithful

Romans 3:3-4 (NIV)

What if some were unfaithful? Will their unfaithfulness nullify God’s faithfulness?

Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar.As it is written:

“So that you may be proved right when you speak
    and prevail when you judge.”

Father.

This year’s fathers’ day is the first one whereby I’ve paid a lot of attention to other people. It was one where I realised the depth and importance of not only knowing God but realising that He is actually our Father. As Christians and believers of the word we can sometimes minimise the word of God to be common knowledge or simply a fairy-tale that’s not applicable to us. But the word of God is true and it applies to every one of us in some shape or form. The bible says,

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12 (NLT)

Yes, we have our fathers on earth but God is our one true father. Our earthly fathers are also men and unfortunately like you and I, they fall short. They disappoint, they cry, forget us and sadly they also pass away. This was the reality that hit me yesterday. Every child upon arrival looks to their fathers as that amazing strong guy that can do just about everything. Even for those whose fathers were not around when they were born, there’s this hurt and longing for that father figure; for that person who will love them no matter what, who will pick them up no matter how many times they fall.

I remember when I was younger, I’d grown up a bit too big to be carried randomly by my dad. So at night I never ate till my dad came home from work. After he ate, I’d curl up on the couch and pretend to fall asleep just so he could carry me up to my room. As I look back now as a twenty one year old girl, as much as I would love to be picked up by my Dad, as much as he would try, I’m pretty sure he’d struggle to get far lol. The point of this is…

When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. Psalm 27:10 (KJV)

Note that this is a when and not an if,

Meaning that it’s bound to happen at some point. But God our father who is in heaven; who is not intimidated by the pressures of the world, threatened by death or limited in is love for us, will always be there to carry and love us through the trails of life.

No matter what your situation is, realize that God’s love is extravagant and he’s with you always. So make sure you send God a Happy Fathers’ day message!

He’s the beauty in my flaws

God is…

“God is a Spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth.”

From the Westminster Shorter Catechism.

Matthew 16:26

Matthew 16:26 (KJV)

or what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

A phrase that comes to mind every time I hear this scripture is ALL IS VANITY!

Ecclesiastes 2:11 (KJV)

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.”

The bible informs us that Solomon was a man who had all the riches that a man could possibly desire.

For him to say this brings things into perspective. I’m sure you can recall a time in your life whereby you felt that you had to be successful in something or your life was over. I remember when I was studying for my A levels in year 13, there was a topic in History I struggled with. When it came to revision I would have random panic attacks because I was so scared of failing. I would revise all day, scared to sleep because I felt that I hadn’t learnt enough. Now I look back and I laugh at myself. It’s even a tad bit embarrassing because I would cry randomly in the library and for what?

I don’t even need those grades for what I want to do in the future. All my turmoil, my sweat, my headache it’s all Vanity – worthless, empty and meaningless.

There is no profitable reward under the sun. Not one thing at all. The devil is the master of deception. Many times we can be fooled into thinking that the things in which we strive for in the world are what God wants us to have. Don’t get me wrong, God wants us to be successful.

On a daily we see and encounter the Excellency of God, so therefore if we are His fruits we also ought to be successful.

However in the process of it you mustn’t trade your soul for earthly rewards. Seek God first and everything else will follow suite.

What state is your soul in? Are you dealing with the devil with your soul?

Remember the devil tried this trick with Jesus, of course he will ty it with you… Don’t be fooled, be alert and be vigilant. Anything that takes you away from God is not of God.

Your soul is way more precious than silver or Gold!

Psalm 48:9 (NIV)
the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough–

Its been but a minute! X
